“She felt better just because of the way he was looking at her. She knew what she needed. She could feel her heart thudding in her chest, but she had to force the words out of her mouth. “I, uh… I need to talk to Jet.”
.
Lead guitarist from Last five second’s, 32-year-old Clay “Jet “Smith is not the marrying kind. Having been dubbed “fucktastic” by groupies, Jet knows he’s good In bed, and well his equipment isn’t anything to be ashamed of either, thinks maybe it’s time to stop bringing home groupies and partying hard every night. However, after his breakup with Val Quinn he hasn’t found anyone who can tame the beast inside of him.
Emily Brinkman comes from a middle class family. Her mother was killed in a car accident and her” kind of” Fiancé is no longer her cup of tea. The spark fizzled a long time ago but he’s a safe bet. The two are night and day, Him coming from a well to do family having both a brother and sister, where as she has only her Father. Having learned at a young age that it was better to leave her heart out of the matter and instead focus on what the relationship could do for her life.
Clay is spiraling out of control, he knows her needs to get his shit together, and fast, so at the suggestion of his housekeeper he puts an ad in the paper. Almost out of school with a MBA in Business management, Emily needs a job that she won’t feel bad about leaving in 6 months to a year, seeing the add in the paper for an assistant to a rock star couldn’t be more perfect.
At first sight Emily knows Jet is the” Anti-Bryce a man, who makes her feel hot, makes her feel like a woman, and who could bring her to her knees.”
After reading multiple resumes, Clay is exhausted, and feeling as if he should just make this decision on instinct, the same way he picked his housekeeper. Until he comes across Emily Brinkman’s…
“In person, this young lady showed that she really was intelligent and personable, and Clay might have been okay with that. After all, Clay was a nice guy. Jet, on the other hand… Jet was a force to be reckoned with. Most people who didn’t know the guitarist of Last Five Seconds assumed that Jet was simply a stage name, a cool description for the guy whose fingers seemed to fly around his fretboard like it was child’s play. It wasn’t, though. Clay didn’t have two personalities, but he did have two distinct sides.”
After agreeing to take the job, and to move into his home temporarily, the two seem to fall into an easy routine, but just underneath the surface both of them feel a surprising attraction.
I don’t want to give you spoilers as to what happens next, but I will tell you that Ms. Jamison can write one of the steamiest, hottest, clench your thighs scenes, and I loved every one of them;) Emily is the perfect woman for Clay, and well Clay, he’s one of those supporting characters in a book that you can’t help but fall in love with! I can tell you after reading Bullet I was a little disappointed that Val and Clay didn’t stay together, but reading Feverish has definitely made me rethink that.
Getting to know Clay and “Jet” was quite the experience and I must say I loved every second of it! If you Haven't read this book yet go snag it, you won't regret it!!
What do you do when you realize the man you love could be toxic enough to destroy you?
This book starts with a letter from the author to the reader, which I found to be quite nice, explaining how Bullet came to be and giving you a warning pertaining to the length of the book.
Miss Jamison had me on an Emotional roller coaster, there were times when I was routing hard for Val and Ethan, others when I wanted to strangle Ethan and slap some sense into Val. It was a longer story than most but I felt like it was perfect because Miss Jamison was not writing your typical love story, she covered several sensitive subjects such as infidelity, drug and alcohol abuse, as well as domestic violence and emotional abuse and depression, and she did it with so much consideration for the seriousness of such subjects.
So much of Val’s story is about Ethan’s struggles whether they are with his demons and his addiction, or denial of his depression that you can almost feel her love, and her pain right along with her.
Val Quinn, a naive college freshman raised by good God-fearing parents, is just trying to figure out who she is and where her place is in this world. She knows one thing for sure though and that is that she LOVES Metal music! Her college roommate is a bitch, and Val doesn’t know anyone else at school so for the first 2 months or so Val just keeps her head down. That is until she sees the cute guy in her history class. After planning to introduce herself to the hottie in her history class Val finds out Ethan Richards( the hottie) loves Metal as much as she does He’s even in a band!!
Throughout the beginning of the book, you get glimpses of a darker side to Ethan, a side that Val can’t begin to contemplate. At first Val and Ethan look like they are stuck in the friend zone, but eventually Val breaks down Ethan’s walls. Ethan comes with baggage, but Val doesn’t seem too worried about it, not yet anyway. Ethan isn’t sure of much in life, just that music is his life; there is nothing else, until he meets Val, his muse.
Will the two of them be able to overcome their differences, fears and obsessions, or will their love for each other destroy them both? Between Ethan’s dark cloud over his head, Vals enabling, and the other members of Fully Automatic trying to maintain the balance between music and Friendship, you get a good look at the depths of Val’s love for Ethan. It starts as a crush, and as we watch it progress it turns into an almost obligatory emotion on Val’s part and an Obsession on Ethan’s.
Not only will you see Val and the guys grow up emotionally, but you get to watch Val Discover herself, who she wants to be as well as what her body was made for. I loved reading the scenes where Val was becoming more sexual , not just because Jade C. Jamison can write a scene that will have you clenching your thighs and biting your lip in anticipation, but because it was great to read a book where your “heroine” isn’t meek and mild mannered after her de-virgining, but one who is learning what she likes and how to get what she wants/needs out of each new experience. The only sex scene that disturbed me was Vals first experience , and only because I felt it went from holy shit this is hot, to almost clinical and then over, and I felt bad for Val. However, looking back at it I think that was probably a good indication of how Ethan and Val’s relationship was going to progress. Val and Ethan’s Journey is one that would leave most in pieces, but the characters in the end are that much stronger for all the shit they’ve endured.
It’s through Ethan that Val meets Brad a fellow band member and Ethan’s best friend. Between Brad and Jet (Another rock-star bad boy) Val has a few brief romantic encounters to distract from the pain her first love can’t help but inflict on her.
Val , being the only chick in a metal band full of young virile guys, makes for some interesting interactions, some that will push her closer to Ethan, and others that will make her wonder, what if?…..
You will fall in love with the Men of Fully Automatic (Bullet) especially Brad with his incessant flirting.
At times, I felt myself wondering what the hell Val was doing with Ethan when she could have Brad, but like I’ve said before, and I’ll say it again… Who doesn’t love a bad boy? Don’t get me wrong though Brad has his bad boy moment’s, and they are quite yummy J Especially when written by the talented Miss Jamison!!
All in all I loved this book, It was a great mix of love , drama, music (and yes even a little smut thrown in) ;)
When you find the "one who holds your heart" Are you willing to fight for them?
"At least I can take with me the knowledge that he read them. He read my words. The words that are meant for him and only him. Time to grow a set and write my letters to Luca."
Leighton Parks was a sweet, innocent, shy girl in high school. After a brief encounter one day with Luca Ferro, Leighton begins to notice him more and more. Too shy to tell him how she feels, Leighton begins writing him anonymous letters to express her growing feelings for him. " My dearest Luca, I know you want to find me; I can see it in your eyes every day I see it.But alas, I cannot reveal my identity for fear that I would not be what you wanted. I know in the letter you wrote back to me, you said you lost sleep over finding me. I cannot have that, my love your well being means more to me than anything. Let's just have this. I like it this way. I get to tell you all the things I love about you, and you accept me for who I am without even knowing me. I know that you are a good person. You are strong, smart, handsome, and you love your family. Maybe someday our paths will cross, you will look into my eyes and you will know it's me. I wouldn't have to say anything, we would just know. That time is not now for us my Luca but remember this, "In true love the smallest distance is too great, and the greatest distance can be bridged." We will find our path some day, Luca have faith. Forever yours, The one whose heart you hold"
Luca Ferro is not your typical Jock. Drafted in high school to play baseball, he decides instead to go to college and play for the University of Miami. After blowing out his elbow, not once but twice Luca turned to the letters from his "letter girl" to get him through the rough times.
The book starts out with Leighton in bed with her steady man Michael and Luca running his Father's restaurant and coaching his old high school baseball team. Leighton, the secret author of 3 contemporary romance novels get’s her invitation to her high school reunion and it's being held at none other than Luca Ferro's place! I can't get into too much detail without spoiling it for you but I can tell you that fate steps in and takes hold of the reigns.
After pining for his "letter girl" for years Luca is about to get the surprise of a lifetime. Will the betrayal of his "letter girl" be too much for him?
I love each and every one of the characters in this book... from the sleazy and slimy Michael and Val, to Luca's sweet lil Old Italian father. The depth of emotion in this book is something I've personally never experienced while reading a book before. I went from hopeful to angry, heartbroken, and sad, and finally to happy. I really did laugh out loud, cry and at points even yell at the book while reading it.
Luca is the type of man we want our sons to be like and our daughters to marry. And Leighton, well, we find out that even as a woman Leighton may still have a bit of growing up to do emotionally.
Letters to Luca has it all, secrets, lies, laughs, but most of all it has Love. Not story book romance kind of love, but real, raw love. The love of everyday real life that can consume you at times. The kind of love that you feel so strongly about that you do not know where it ends and you begin.
This book showed me the importance of communication in a relationship; it reminded me that relationships take hard work, compromise and most of all understanding and forgiveness.
M.R. Joseph weaves a story of soul mates fighting and sometimes failing to love one another in the way the other one needs.
She makes you question, is love, even true love, always enough?
"Her eyes are shifted downward, as if she'd like to watch me slide into her. When I don't move, her eyes return to mine in the mirror. I nod and see them shift to her own reflection. And then I thrust into her, hard and deep" (Cash and Olivia)
Oh what a love triangle... or is it? Olivia Townsend moves home to help her dad run his business, and in the process meets Cash and Nash Davenport. Nash, a successful, reliable, and taken by none other than Olivia's cousin and roommate. Cash is a dark and sexy bad boy who also happens to be Nash's identical twin brother. Starting work at the club that Cash owns, was a responsible decision, with a car that's constantly breaking down it's closer to her apartment and has absolutely nothing to do with her attraction to Cash. Taken or not, Nash feels an attraction to Olivia that he just can't explain, so much so that he will find any reason to be around her. Olivia is torn between the 2 brother's, Knowing that Cash brings out her wild side where Nash is the more sensible choice, but are either of these mysterious men a forever kind of guy?
So similar but so different it's getting hard for Olivia to be able to tell who is who.
" Even as he speaks, his hands are skimming the outsides of my thighs, sliding under the band of my panties. He pauses. Maybe he's waiting for me to tell him to go. Maybe he's rethinking what he's about to do. I have no idea because I don't know who's in my bed. And at the moment I don't care. I want both Cash and Nash. They both come with their own brand of trouble. Maybe not knowing which one I'm giving into will be a good thing."
This book is the first of 3 so far (i've been keeping my fingers crossed for more of this twisted triangle) and I have to say that M. Leighton certainly has a way with words. I devoured this book in hours. I just had to know who she was going to pick, and let me tell you was I ever SHOCKED! I finished the book feeling pretty good but the ending was still a .... To be continued kind of moment, and I of course bought the next 2 books in the series. By the end of book 3 even my husband was thanking Mrs. Leighton for writing the books ( and he didn't read them) if you know what I mean!
This book was in a word... HOT! Not your typical love story, Set in current day Louisiana, 26 year old Alexia Sloane half owner of Java and Sweeties, is living her dream. That is until Jude Delecroix, lead singer of Bayou Stix, walks into her shop. "I slowly turn around, as if pulled by an imaginary cord, but I already know what I'll see.My mind sees everything as if in slow motion. My eyes travel the length of a slim, but cut, 6'1 body, taking everything in, from the tips of his black boots to the top of his spiked dirty blonde purple tipped hair. I notice all of the tattoos and the scruff that looks as if it's a permanent part of a chiseled face. Oh FUCK ME!" As if the description of the steamy leading man isn't enough to keep you reading, the dynamic between all of the characters certainly helps. Alexaia's best friends are a riot especially Bradi, who even though she is in a committed relationship, tells Alexia "Besides, I've already told you, if Jude Delecrouix motions my way, I'm dropping my panties before he can blink and change his mind. I would so have his rock-star babies." An Eric her totally hot but disappointingly gay roomie :) you are guaranteed to laugh out loud! Skye Turner most definitely has a way with words, and more than once while reading this book I caught myself wishing that my husband would sweet talk me the way Jude can sweet talk a woman! When I wasn't turning to mush after reading declarations like " No. The moment I saw her, I was just me. I was just the boy Alexia Sloane promised to love forever, and the boy who made her his world. I would have given her anything, would have given up everything just to keep her happy... just to have her stay mine.", I was clenching my legs from the steaming HOT, and I mean x rated HOT sex scenes! Skye Turner leaves little if any to the imagination (Jude has some great technique, and 9 1/2 inches to work with) and in my opinion she blows some of the scenes from 50 shades right out of the water! With a great story line, characters you can't help but fall in love with ( I really need to find myself an Eric) and "Sexy Rock Gods" what's not to love? Oh and if you didn't get enough of Bayou Stix, you can get even more of them in Jessie and Blue's story Alluring Seduction! Thank you Mrs. Turner !!! That one's next on my TBR list
