After centuries of searching, Lawrence has found the perfect person to help him birth a new race of vampires: Jocelyn, the girl he’s groomed to be the most powerful courtesan at the court of King James. All goes according to plan until Michael Barwick arrives at court and threatens everything. Michael abandoned his life at sea in order to take his place as Baron Barwick after his brother’s death. Overwhelmed by his duties, he’s eager to leave court until Jocelyn sits across from him in a tavern. The intriguing woman soon has him opening his heart to her, and he’s prepared to fight for a place in her life. Jocelyn’s desire for Michael, the one man who has ever fought past her professional façade to truly love her, threatens her independence. When Lawrence offers her the gift of eternal life, she must choose between the man she loves and the freedom she’s struggled for. Fates Entwined is a prequel and is intended to be read after Haunting Echoes. Chapter One Lawrence admired the amber and gold music box on the parlor mantle while he waited for Jocelyn to join him. A delicate golden elephant twirled as tinkling music floated through the air. The superb craftsmanship impressed even him, and he wondered which of her clients had gifted it to her. Lawrence noticed Jocelyn’s energy brushing against him, reaching out to him, before he heard her steps on the stairs. Her aura enveloped him in its warmth, the strength of its touch bringing a smile to his lips. The approaching young woman was unaware of the magnificence of her energy. Her ignorance made her all the more attractive, as did the fact that she was his. He had taken her raw talents and molded her into his most successful courtesan. “Lawrence, sorry to keep you waiting.” “Not at all, my dear.” Lawrence kissed her on each cheek then held her at arm’s length. “You didn’t have to doll yourself up for me.” Jocelyn’s dark blue dress with black lace trim brought out the shine in her auburn hair. A simple blue ribbon with a golden, heart-shaped charm accentuated her slender neck. A young maid entered with a tea service. Without having to be told, she served Lawrence a cup with two lumps of sugar and a little cream. After handing Jocelyn her cup, the girl left as quietly as she’d come. “How is Anne faring?” Lawrence blew on his tea. The maid was new to Jocelyn’s service and hoped to someday be a courtesan. “Well enough. I don’t know if she’ll make anything of herself, but she’s pretty.” “You should know that it’s not the looks that make the girl.” Jocelyn was beautiful in her own way, but there were plenty of women more attractive than her at court. Her eyes were hazel instead of the more desired blue, she refused to cover her auburn hair with fashionable blonde dyes or wigs, and her bosom was smaller than most men preferred in their paid company. But appearance could only take a girl so far. “She’s eager to learn, but she lacks patience.” Jocelyn took a sip of her tea. “If she’s not suitable, we can find someone else. There’s no lack of girls wanting to learn from you.” Lawrence’s tea was sweet, but it didn’t sate his thirst. He would need a real drink once he left Jocelyn. “Let’s give her some more time. I’ve grown used to her.” Lawrence nodded. “How was your night with the Marquess of Buckingham?” “George was wonderful, as always.” She held something back. There was a way she held her mouth and eyes, as if trying to prevent her emotions from showing. It worked well on clients, but Lawrence wasn’t a client. A decade spent studying her as he’d raised and trained her had attuned him to her physical tics as well as her energy. “He offered to install you as his official mistress, didn’t he?” Jocelyn sighed as she placed her teacup on the table and faced Lawrence. “Yes, he did.” “And you weren’t going to tell me?” “Why would I? I have no intention of accepting.” Of course she didn’t. She would never give up her independence to anyone. Lawrence exclusively held her strings. “Still, I should think something that momentous would warrant at least a mention.” “He knew what my answer would be. If I’d accepted, he would have lost interest. My refusal didn’t appear to dampen his affection. He’ll be here next Tuesday. I’m entertaining a few people to discuss The Pennylesse Pilgrimage by John Taylor.” “Good. I’ll put it on the calendar. Now, why are you looking so desirable tonight?” “I was thinking of going to King’s Head.” “You don’t have to go looking for business at the inn, dear. You’re more than welcome to take the night off. You have a masquerade the day after tomorrow.” It was no surprise that she was eager to exert her independence after having it threatened. The Marquess was a good man who genuinely cared for Jocelyn. He might even love her. He would have seen his offer as security for Jocelyn, but she would only see it as another man trying to control her. She had Lawrence, and he had done a good job of convincing her he was all she would ever need. “I know, but it’s fun. I promise I won’t overwork myself. You need to stop worrying, Lawrence. I’ll be fine. I enjoy the change of pace away from court.” “Then have fun. You’ve earned it.” ••• Lawrence licked Jane’s neck, his mouth watering in anticipation. A gentle pressure in his mouth released his fangs. The razor sharp teeth sank into Jane’s skin, releasing the warm flow of blood. Thicker than water, sweeter than wine, it slaked his thirst. The warmth brought life. Stolen life. Lawrence released her neck. Jane was one of his favorite whores. While Jocelyn’s success afforded her a private residence, his other girls lived in the brothel, servicing the crowds Hampton Court Palace drew. Lawrence had his own home, but he was rarely there. He preferred to make use of his suite in the brothel, where he could keep an eye on his girls and the comings and goings. He didn’t mind Jocelyn’s independence. He wouldn’t dream of using her services himself. She was too important to him. Lawrence kissed along Jane’s breasts until he reached the other side. As always, his victim was unaware of his actions. The venom in his fangs masked the pain. Jane would only feel a light pressure and sucking sensation. Nothing out of the ordinary in her line of work. He descended once again on her neck, taking a little more. Once Jane finished him off, sating more than just his thirst, she swayed drowsily to her room. Lawrence rose. For him, a bed’s only purpose was fucking. He had not slept in more than two centuries. He sauntered to the bookshelf, trying not to think of what he couldn’t have. Selecting the most recent medical treatise, he situated himself in his worn armchair to read. It took effort to concentrate on the words in front of him. Jocelyn was almost ready. He longed to feel her blood on his lips, sliding down his throat, to taste its tangy sweetness. But it wasn’t feeding he craved. No, the feeding would only be a precursor. She would be shocked by the truth of his existence, but he didn’t doubt she would join him. He would pour her blood back into her. Mixed with his venom, it would transform her into a vampire. Lily Kramer is a thirty-something, single wedding planner. Her business is failing and she has no way to save it. Drew Hamilton is a self-proclaimed lifetime bachelor who reluctantly agrees to be a groomsman in his friend's wedding. When things go south, he consoles the wedding planner and sparks fly. Drew's mother has always wanted to see her only son married and happy, but he's not interested in a relationship. When Drew and Lily hook up, he sees the answer to his mother's wish. Drew offers Lily enough money to save her business if she agrees to stage a wedding and live with him to give his mother her wish, before she loses her mind to dementia. “Well, I’m here now. What do you want to do?” I raise one eyebrow, hoping he’s thinking the same thing I am. “I thought we’d have a glass of wine on the back patio and talk. Then we can have dinner and see where the night goes from there. How does that sound?” I try to hide my disappointment at his plan. I was hoping to have him as an appetizer and go from there. I can’t believe my sex drive is revved up after only being with this man twice. “Sure, sounds like a plan to me. What kind of wine do you have?” I’m not a wine expert, but I know what I like. “I’ve got a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay or a Pinot. Is there one you prefer?” “I’ll start with the Chardonnay, please.” It’s my favorite, but I’m not going to tell him just yet. Drew pours the wine, takes my hand, and leads me out to the patio where he first proposed this idea of marriage. I hadn’t taken the opportunity to admire the view the last time I was here. If this is going to be my home, I think I should take a look around. There’s the patio, which is covered over about six feet by a deck above. The large grill and a patio table are on one side. Beyond the patio is a beautiful in-ground pool with an infinity edge. I love swimming pools. On both sides of the pool are large grassy areas that seem to go on forever. I could get used to this. I shake my head trying to clear my head. I shouldn’t be thinking like this when our relationship is fake. Drew pulls a chair out from the table for me before sitting down. Such a gentleman. I smile at that thought, and when I look up he’s staring. “What?” I can’t help but grin. “Nothing, just that you have a beautiful smile.” Okay, my panties are wet again. How is it he keeps doing this to me? “Um, thanks?” Drew smiles again and I can feel my cheeks heat up. I’ve got to stop blushing in front of him. “So, Lily, is there anything in particular you’d like to do on your days off?” Oh, there are plenty of things I want to do, but I’m not sure I can say them out loud right now. “Well, I haven’t really thought about it. I have until Monday, so I’m sure we’ll think of something.” “Monday? I thought you had a wedding this weekend.” “Nope. The bride postponed due to a family emergency. I don’t have anything going on until Monday, so . . .” “Wow, that’s great. I’m sure we’ll find a way to fill the time.” That statement holds promise. I smile at Drew and try to convey my dirty thoughts with my eyes. When I reach my room, I stop short at one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen. Lily is curled up on my bed, her hair splayed out on the pillow, and she’s sleeping. She looks so peaceful and content; my dick twitches at the thought of burying myself inside her. My heart rate speeds up and I realize I really like this view. I want to have it view every day. Fuck. There go my plans to keep things simple. I’m falling in love with Lily. I didn’t see that coming, but I kind of like the idea. As I change my clothes, I wonder how this woman got under my skin so quickly. I know I should let her sleep, but I have to touch her to figure out if what I’m feeling is real, if I want to put my heart on the line again and risk it being crushed. I climb carefully on the bed and she rolls toward me, but doesn’t open her eyes. I brush a few strands of hair away from her face and she smiles. That smile pushes me over the edge. I know I want this woman in my life, and I’m going to do what I can to keep her. It’s a foreign feeling, one I’ve fought for years, but it feels right. I pull her into my arms. She makes a small moaning sound and curls into me. She’s soft where I’m hard and we fit together like we were made for each other. I relax and get lost in the rhythm of her breathing. Soon, I’m dozing, too. J.A. Hensley wrote her first books under the pen name, Savannah Leigh. Her debut novella, With This Ring, reached #1 on Amazon's Top 100 Free Erotica list. Sometimes, in order to move forward from the wake of a disaster, you have to take two steps back. couldn’t remember the James I saw boxed into the worn, plastic frame. He had a slight smile curving up on one side of his mouth up, while his eyebrows bore a look of surprise. It was like he wasn’t ready for the picture, or maybe the flash had scared him. Regardless, he looked… Well, he looked normal. He looked like the brother I could have grown to love, could have spent my days building rocket ships and playing baseball in the yard with. A brother I could have walked to the park and climb the monkey bars with. There wasn’t an ounce of insanity plastered into his still features. He was just a toddler, an older brother, who was part of a family that loved him and cherished his existence. Picture James rested his tiny hand on my baby self’s even tinier leg. I was just a baby, barely sitting up on my own. My mouth was wide with an innocent grin and I recognized the baby as me—not because it was the obvious assumption, but because my mother had carefully stitched my name into the collared sweater I was wearing in the picture. James’s was stitched into his as well. We were the ideal-looking family, the one you would see in the display frames at the store, not on the wall. It amazed me what kind of changes happened between when that picture was taken to where we all are now. Dead, alone, and psycho. Some family. Until one beautiful morning when I look outside and see her. She tries to help me… But I’m lost. And I'm not sure I can ever be found. August was winding down. School had started and I was spending some time with Will and Jax before my night class. Well, that had been the plan. Jax ended up leaving early to go hang out with his girlfriend, which left me alone with Will, something I avoided at all costs. I couldn’t fight my feelings if I were alone with him. He had offered to leave with Jax, but it wasn’t his fault that I couldn’t control my feelings, so instead, I sat by the pool while Will swam laps. I loved watching the way his muscles flexed under his skin. I could watch him move all day. I felt like I was baking in the sun, so I moved to the side of the pool, dangling my feet in the water. I didn’t want to disturb Will, so I bent over and cupped some water in my hand, then rubbed it over my skin to cool off. Pouring some water over my neck and back, I closed my eyes and enjoyed the cool water against my hot skin. When my eyes opened, Will was standing in the middle of the pool, staring at me. His eyes were heated as he watched the water drip down my skin. I bit my lip, not wanting to break his trance. I liked the way his eyes felt on me. I liked that I didn’t have to pretend that I didn’t want him. “Hot?” he asked. His voice was huskier, sexier. “Yeah, a little.” He swam over to the side of the pool and put his hands on my thighs. My breath caught in my throat. His eyes never left mine as he rubbed his thumbs over my skin. “I could help you cool off.” “Oh, yeah?” I asked breathlessly. I didn’t recognize my own voice. His hands moved further up my thighs until they were on my hips. He moved me closer to him until he was standing between my parted thighs. “Yeah.” Our eyes never left each other. Chills raced over my skin even though the sun was intense, but when his hands moved behind me, I realized what he was trying to do. “No, no, no!” I squealed, attempting to get out of his grip. He overpowered me and threw me in the pool. I resurfaced, spitting and wiping water from my eyes. Will smirked as I tried to swim away, but he caught me and pulled me closer, tucking a strand of hair over my shoulder. My entire body was pressed up against his. I could feel his breath skating over my skin … his heart pounding … his muscles moving… It took my breath away. He brushed more hair out of my face and ran a finger down my cheek. “Are you cooled off?” I nodded and leaned closer to him, wanting to curl up in his arms and never leave. “Good.” His eyes studied my lips as they parted. I wondered if he would kiss me. I wanted him to. God, I wanted him to kiss me so badly it had become a physical ache. His arms tightened around me and I found it harder to breathe. I was dizzy with the closeness of Will and how incredible it felt to be in his arms. I had never felt this way before. I didn’t want it to end. The sliding glass door opened, pulling Will and me out of our trance. Jax and his girlfriend Lindsey stood on the deck. Lindsey was smirking, but Jax had his arms crossed over his chest and his eyebrow raised, a slight scowl on his lips. Will dropped his arms and moved away. I missed him immediately. I wanted to move closer to him and tell Jax to leave, but I couldn’t. I had to be strong. From the time she was old enough to form words into sentences, Kristy Love has been writing stories. Except…there are the questions of her unresolved love affair, her recently acquired arch enemy, and a haunting past. Join Lizzie as she muddles through another magical adventure, with old friends and new, making the most of what life—and the afterlife—throw at her. This excerpt is unedited and subject to change. Lizzy felt a hard yank on her scalp. She wanted to cry out, but no sound emerged from her lips. Someone was dragging her down the path. Her muzzy, pain-filled brain tried to put the pieces together. If he was carrying a gun, he might have a very good reason to hate her. A personal reason to become emotional over her appearance at his front door. Maybe his magic was gone, too? The painful pulling at her scalp was joined by a steady wrenching feeling in her shoulder. She must have passed out for a moment, because suddenly she was inside the house and being pulled across a floor. She could feel the wood floor and then the rug underneath her—but it was all distant and fuzzy, like she’d just woken from a dream but wasn’t yet able to think clearly or move. She could feel even these sensations start to slip away as her thoughts became hazier. A sharp pain pierced through the darkness. Her body slamming into a wall? A doorway? Briefly she tried to grab at the door jamb she was being yanked past, but her fingers wouldn’t move to clench the frame. She was so tired. Even the mounting terror—what would happen to her?—couldn’t keep her awake. She didn’t want to die like this. She didn’t want to die at all, she thought right before she lost consciousness. She woke briefly as a guard pulled her body this way and that as he restrained her. Her shoulder screamed with a tearing pain, and tears were running down her face. She could just barely make out Worth speaking in the background. He was giving instructions to one of his men for evacuation. As she struggled to hear anything that might hint at their destination, the guard had finished binding her feet and moved to her hands. He pulled her hands together, wrenching her damaged shoulder. She bit down on her cheek frantically as waves of pain tore through her. She didn’t want Worth to hear her scream, she thought a fraction of a second before her mouth filled with her own blood, and she lost consciousness. Joseph can turn simple words on a page into something magical that will have you devouring the pages of her books, and this one was no exception. Always In is an emotionally gripping tale of Second chances and fighting for love when you believe all hope is lost. This book continues shortly after the end of book one Giving In, and shows the struggles Harlow, Cruz, Willow, and the rest of the gang are going through while Harlow is healing. Not a huge fan of Cliffhangers, I was devastated at the end of book one, knowing I would have to wait quite a while for book 2 but I can tell you that this book was worth the wait, surpassing any expectations I had as a reader. I felt like I was one of the gang while reading, whether it was because I was Laughing at Willowâs completely ridiculous yet hilarious sexual innuendos, or I was crying because my heart was breaking at either Harlowâs or Cruzâs frustration, this book grabbed me from the beginning and me tied up in knots right up until the end. Whatever you do, be sure to have a stress ball, box of tissues, and chocolate on hand while reading! The secondary characters have much more of a role to play in this book than in the first, so you definitely get a better sense of who they are and what they are about. For instance Willow, one of Harlowâs best friends and a Teacher at the same school as Harlow, has a big mouth and has no problem calling it as she sees it, like in this scene âHarlow, you are just going to sit there and not say a thing about that guy? What in the hell has gotten into you lately? Waitâ¦. I can answer that. Nothing ! Your hymen has probably grown back and now youâre a twenty-four-year-old virgin.â We also get a lot more of Bella, Cruzâs sister âin-law, I love their relationship with each other sheâs very motherly which he definitely needs in his life, and she always gives him the best advice like this, âYou can do one of two things here, Raph. One, Move on. Which I donât really think youâll do. And two, you can fight the biggest fight of your life, bigger than any war you have fought in, do anything and everything in your power to make your way back into her life. You are a fighter and honestly, Iâd be disappointed if you didnât fight for her.â I canât tell you about my most favorite part of the book because that would be a big HUGE spoiler and I donât want to spoil this book for anyone! I can however say that you do not want to miss out by not reading this book, it has quickly jumped to my second favorite book (the first being Giving In)of the year. An although this book is the last in the series that is dedicated to Cruz and Harlow, I was assured we would be seeing more of them in the rest of the books in the shore series!

I’m a fun, loyal person and believe in Karma, so I try to treat people how I would like to be treated… after all, it takes much more to be nasty to someone rather than just to be nice…You can contact me at Google+: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+SamanthaFontien My books contains explicit sex scenes and are recommended for readers 18+ HOSTED BY: Synopsis James, Letting Go of You will be the hardest decision of my life. My love of music became my sole focus, and I spent quite a few years as the lead singer for many local rock bands. In high school, I was fascinated with the macabre and started writing science fiction and horror stories so dark they earned me the nickname "Gory Cory." After years of writing dark tales, I never thought in a million years my first two finished manuscripts would be Adult Romance. I am a devout vegan as well as an animal lover. I collect antique weapons and crosses(I still have that dark-side).
